Aaaargh! I HATE numbersandlife. Her blog is like a slut-shaming festival.
”I also don’t think that acting in a suggestive manner and then getting raped gives you the right to demand for sympathy. You acted that way, a male subject will only react instinctively. Basically stay out of trouble”
.Let’s think for a moment about this shall we?
A stripper, who, arguably, rents out her body for the sexual enjoyment of the club’s patrons is raped. By your logic because she made herself “available” sexually she is in no position to complain about her assault.
But where’s the logic in that? This woman is not selling sex, and even if she was selling sex it does not mean that she is giving sex in the same way that someone who sells candy is not giving candy. Would you say that someone who sells candy is in no position to cry foul when his or her candy is stolen?
A stripper, or a sex worker, or anyone who dresses “provocatively” is not giving their body away. They are not saying “I’m an in various stages of undress, do what you want with me.” Even if a woman dresses or behaves in a way that deliberately expresses her intentions are to engage in sex it does not mean that she does not have a right to pick and choose who it is she wants sex from. It does not mean that the rights to her body, which everyone has, are nullified because she let’s her bra strap show or is wearing nothing at all. It also does not mean that someone who’s job it is to simulate or perform the act of sex wants sex at all times, from anyone.
While I’m at it, let me add that a woman who is in a relationship with a man has no sexual obligation to him whatsoever. A woman who sells her sex to someone a thousand times over has no sexual obligation to him what so ever. A woman who wears a half shirt that says “SLUT”, a micro-skirt, platform heels and a fucking bejewelled vagina has no sexual obligation to perform the actions which her attire suggests she performs.
To suggest the contrary to anything that I have stated is the worst kind of sexism I could possibly imagine. You are implying that it is possible for women to dehumanize themselves because of an action or type of clothing. That not only they deserve one of the worst possible violations of bodily right but that the outcome of a woman partaking in a certain activity or dressing a particular way should be rape. You are a vile, ignorant, sorry excuse for a human being.
I am just a tad offended by this post. While yes, I agree with EVERYTHING you stated about the subject of the post, but, I felt a violent overwhelming need to point out that strippers do not sell sex. We sell the ideals of sex, but a guy ask to fuck me, and I’ll laugh at him. A guy ask for a blow job and I’ll give him a soul crushing glare. Touch me? And I’ll kick you with my 10 inch solid platform boots. No shit, I’ve litterally fractured a guys hand for that before. That is actually one of my fondest memories of dancing.
I completely understand the point you were making, and again, I agree, but it sounded as if you were making it look like strippers are prostitutes. So let me put it like this. Strippers are dancers. Not prostitutes. That’s the difference. Dancers, again, sell the ideal of sex, not the act itself. Prostitutes sell sex. And you may not have meant it like that, but I just wanted it to be clearly spelled out as to the difference.
